framing

are you using framing in your photos? intentional or accidental?

this is what framing does:

provides a context for the subject

leads the eye to the subject

creates depth

there are various types of framing such as architectural and geometric – as in my photo above. others types are natural framing (using trees, for example) or light/shadow.

if you notice the bottom of my photo is framed by a band of light blur – that comes from shooting through a metal rail which was very close to the lens and out of focus.

as you can see you don’t need to frame all 4 sides of the image 😉 check out my other photo tips
